Throwback to My First Kelowna Shoot: Simple Elegance on the Bridge

When I first started doing styled shoots in Kelowna, I kept things small and intentional. This particular shoot holds a special place in my heart; it was one of my earliest collaborations in the city, featuring just four talented vendors, our beautiful model, and a vision for modern bridal elegance.

The Dream Team:
  • The Hair Den Kelowna
  • Alicia Kahn Photography
  • Fluerich Flowers
  • Xoxo Couture Bridal (yours truly) for the dress, accessories, and styling
The Gown:
This dress was completely designed and made from scratch in my studio. I wanted to create something that felt both timeless and contemporary, a piece that would photograph beautifully while showcasing the kind of craftsmanship I love to bring to custom bridal work.
The gown featured:
  • A sequin V-neck plunge that caught the light perfectly
  • An open back with simple corset detailing
  • Clean, modern lines with a romantic silhouette

The Veils:
One of my favorite parts of any bridal look is layering in the right accessories, and for this shoot, I styled the model with four different veils to show the versatility of one gown:
  • A classic satin trim veil
  • A rhinestone-detailed veil for added sparkle
  • A floral birdcage veil for vintage-inspired brides
  • A mixed tulle and netting veil that brought texture and a modern edge
Each veil transformed the look, proving that accessories truly complete the bridal vision.

Fall Vibes and a Moody Color Palette:
We shot this during the fall season, and I wanted the styling to reflect that beautiful transitional time of year. Instead of traditional whites and pastels, we leaned into a moodier, more dramatic palette with deep burgundy and rich greenery in the florals. The bouquet from Fluerich Flowers was absolutely stunning; those dark, velvety blooms paired with white accents created the perfect contrast against the crisp white gown.
Fall weddings have such a unique energy. There's something about the cooler air, the softer light, and those earthy tones that feels both romantic and a little bit edgy. This shoot captured that vibe perfectly, and it reminded me how much I love working with brides who aren't afraid to play with color and break away from the expected.

Why This Shoot Still Matters:
Looking back, this shoot reminds me why I fell in love with bridal design in the first place. It wasn't about a big production; it was about collaboration, creativity, and crafting something beautiful from the ground up. From the sequins I hand-placed to the corset I laced, every detail was intentional.
If you're a bride dreaming of a custom gown or a unique bridal look, this is exactly the kind of work I live for. Let's create something unforgettable together.
